What it is for

The three things on the first screen

• The big round button — press once, he talks, press again when he is finished. It saves by itself.
• Someone to talk to — a conversation. He speaks, it answers out loud, it waits for him. It never rushes him.
• Read me a book — it reads aloud and keeps his place.

If it stops hearing him

• Check the volume is up and the screen is awake.
• Press Done, then start again. Nothing already said is lost.
• If a permission box appears asking about the microphone, choose Allow.

Sending something to David

Open My recordings, pick one, press Send. Or ask out loud during a conversation: “send that to David.”

Please know

The voice is a machine, and it says so if he asks. It is not a substitute for a visit. It is there so that what he has to say gets kept, and reaches his son, at the hours when nobody is free to listen.
